Brief Introduction of Volunteers
Let’s first look at the objective of the establishment of the counseling volunteers group: “Based on the concept of growth, promote the belief of loving and helping people, assist the Counseling and Guidance Center to process its affairs, promote counseling work, help students to grow through self growth, nurture peer counseling spirits and improve the psychological health of the students of our university.” So the task of the counseling volunteers is to “help the center help the students, becoming a “communications bridge” between the Counseling Center and the students.” How can the counseling volunteers become the bridges between the center and the students? To learn to help others and other counseling skills, it is very important to understand better your classmates around you and to provide the resources of the center when they are in need. Also, the key to become a counseling volunteer is “self growth”. You can only help others if you help yourself! How can the counseling volunteers become the bridges between the center and the students? Also, The counseling volunteers organization is divided into three professional groups: Professional Development Group, Peer Care Group and Study Guidance Group. Each group has many courses and trainings in each semester through small groups, study groups, growth camps, workshops and seminars. After completing the number of hours for trainee volunteers and after passing an interview, you can join the volunteers officially and really apply what you have learned to helping yourself and your peers!

We will hold a “volunteer screening” at the beginning of the first semester every year. Let me tell you a secret about the characters, which someone with will more likely to be chose: 1. Enjoy self-growth. 2. Being willing to assist the Counseling and Guidance Center. 3. Being willing to help peers around your side. 4. Accept that be trained as an intern volunteer for 1 year, and be a regular volunteer for 1 year after the training. |
(1) Finish all the tasks which are associated with the intern volunteer after the screening: You have to be trained for 1 year, and receive 30 hours for courses and training, and offer 25 hours for being on duty or service in 1 year. Thus you will earn the certificate of volunteer and be a regular volunteer. (2)Finish all the tasks which are associated with the regular volunteer when you are a regular volunteer: You have to service for 1 year, and receive 10 hours for courses and training, and offer 60 hours for being on duty or service in 1 year. Thus you will earn the certificate of consultant of the volunteers and be a consultant of the volunteers. |
